The benefit to me is I don’t have to worry about defensive affixes on my follower’s gear, and that’s huge. Now, for the token I always go with the can’t-die option. Both are spectacular choices, depending on your build’s needs.

My H90 Barbarian chews-up stunned enemies like potato chips. This ring is going to piggy-back on Thunderfury’s chain lightning and add a chance to stun. Much like the Nemesis Bracers, Flavor of Time’s benefit is too juicy to pass up. When Kormac blocks there is a chance for him to freeze the attacker. With a chance to chain lightning on every hit, which slows enemies’ movement and attack speed, this sword is Kormac’s best shot at assisting me with a weapon.
